Chemical Engineering College is one of the earliest departments established by Huanggang Normal University, with four undergraduate majors including Chemistry, Applied Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, and Pharmaceutical Engineering, as well as a master's degree in Education (Chemistry). There are currently more than 900 full-time undergraduate students and 30 postgraduate students.

The college currently has 67 faculty members, 55 of whom are full-time teachers. There are 7 personnel from Hubei Provincial Talent Project, and one from the Provincial Outstanding Youth program. In addition, there are five students from Chu Tian College. The college employs 9 professors, and 23 associate professors. Among them, 54 have doctoral degrees and come from renowned universities such as Tokyo Institute of Technology, Nanjing University, Wuhan University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and Nankai University. Seven additional personnel are employed with high-level expertise in Hubei Province.

The college is home to six first-class majors: chemistry, applied chemistry, chemical engineering, and pharmaceutical engineering. It also offers a master's degree in education (chemistry). The college has established several key facilities, including the Hubei Provincial Key Laboratory for Catalyst Preparation and Application, the Chu Tian College-University Joint Research Center for Drug Synthesis Processes, the Chemistry Experiment Teaching Demonstration Center in Hubei Province, and the Innovation Talent Internship and Training Demonstration Base on the Dabie Mountains. Additionally, it offers a number of prestigious courses and research teams.

The college has a 7600 m² independent experimental building with various advanced instruments, including transmission electron microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, single crystal X-ray diffractometer, Fourier transform infrared spectrometer, ion chromatograph, gas chromatography-mass spectrometry, high performance liquid chromatography, ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometer, fluorescence spectrophotometer, fluorescence phosphorescence spectrophotometer, electrochemical workstation, comprehensive thermal analyzer, powder X-ray diffractometer, chemical adsorption instrument, physical adsorption instrument, atomic absorption spectrometer, high sensitivity zeta potential and particle size analyzer, Raman spectrometer. The total value of the equipment is more than 30 million yuan.

In recent years, the college has undertaken 12 national natural science foundation projects, provincial key scientific and technological innovation projects, natural science foundations, provincial outstanding young and middle-aged scientific and technological innovation team projects, and more than 30 provincial-level research projects, including 110 horizontal projects. The total amount of research funds has exceeded 40 million yuan; it has won two second prizes and two third prizes for scientific and technological progress in Hubei Province; over 500 scientific research papers have been published, including more than 200 papers indexed by SCIE, and five high-cited papers; more than 50 national invention patents have been authorized; and more than 90 utility model patents have been granted. At the same time, the college has also undertaken more than 20 provincial and school-level teaching and research projects, published more than 20 teaching and research papers, published 5 teaching materials, and published 2 monographs.
